Ubuntu 8.10 Beta Released

What is different from Ubuntu 8.04?

User graphical interface is a combination of Gnome 2.24 with X.Org 7.4. With Gnome 2.24, Nautilus has tab support and File Roller now supports ALZ, RZIP, CAB, TAR.7Z file types also. With X.Org 7.4, this release brings much better support for hot-pluggable input devices such as tablets, keyboards, and mice.

Ubuntu 8.10 Beta comes with Linux Kernel 2.6.27.

A new features is that encryption of any private directory is possible so that users don't have to think about their private files.

Ubuntu 8.10 Beta presents Network Manager 0.7 which includes management of 3G features.
A major step has been taken with Samba 3.2 that includes better integration with Microsoft Windows clients and servers.
